Annapurna's trek holding the rope

When the time and circumstances allow, I usually go for a walk. I especially like to go to places that are not popular.

I traveled to the northern base camp of Annapurna Himal in the last week of last April. Annapurna base camp is a world famous trekking destination not only in Nepal. But the trek we have decided is newer than the current one.

As we were making our way on the footpath, we had to make the journey with the help of ropes in between. Even though the journey was difficult, it was not easy to forget the fatigue of the journey.

The first French mountaineers, Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachanel, climbed the Annapurna Mountains at an altitude of 8,000 meters on June 3, 1950.

Annapurna is said to be the oldest mountain where human footsteps were made only three years after the ascent of Mount Everest.

When we reached the base camp, this time the Nepali disciples were preparing to climb Annapurna Himal. Talking to him about mountaineering, he said that Annapurna is very difficult in terms of the first climb, there are no more avalanches and it is also known as Killer Mountain.

There are six mountains in the Annapurna Himalayan group. Annapurna I, the main mountain, is 8,091 meters high, Annapurna II is 7,937 meters high, Annapurna III is 7,555 meters high, Annapurna IV is 7,525 meters high, Gangapurna Himal is 7,455 meters high and Annapurna South is 7,219 meters high.

There are three major footpaths in the Annapurna region. The first Jomson trek starts from Jomsam and Muktinath, Annapurna base camp, second Annapurna circuit and third Pokhara, passes through Ghorepani and ends at Annapurna base camp.

For the first time in 71 years, a team of six Nepali women has climbed this 8,091-meter-high peak.
